NEWCOMERS
youth ministry

Somehow, you found your way to Trinity.  You may have been part of the many groups or organizations that meet here.  You may have been directed by a friend.  You may have been looking for something else but found us instead.   We extend to you a hearty welcome, in the name of Jesus.  We believe that God brought you here, no matter what the particular events of the journey that got you here.  Here is some information you may find useful as you get to know us.  On a typical Sunday morning Trinity offers two services of worship.  The first service takes place at 8:45, and the second at 11:00.  The 8:45 service is what we call the "service of the word" and is a little shorter and more streamlined.  The 11:00 service is what we call the “liturgical” service, which simply means it is the traditional service most people think of when they hear the word “Lutheran”.    A nursery is provided for young children during both services.  When the first service is over, and before the second service begins, we hold Sunday School.  We have classes for adults, children of all ages, and have most recently begun a new young parents class.

Newcomers are welcome to join us Sunday mornings. Dress code is casual. Our Sunday morning worship services are inspiring and relevant.

No matter what your walk of life, or background, you will be welcomed.

As a newcomer to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church you probably have some questions about what to expect. You might be investigating the claims of Christianity, you may or may not have gone to church in your life, you may have had good or bad experiences with churches in the past.

We want to make sure that there are no unexpected surprises for you when you come to the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The following is a list of frequently asked questions that newcomers ask:

  • Is there a dress code? Come as you are! There is no dress code. Most worship service attendees dress casually. Blue jeans, cotton pants, or a suit and tie... the choice is yours.

  • What about my children? You can decide whether you want your children to attend the worship service, or depending on their age -- attend the nursery available at both services.

  • Am I going to be asked for money? Giving is completely optional. We pass around an offering plate midway through the service. You are free to pass the plate by without putting anything in.

  • How will I know when to stand up and when to sit down? Not knowing when to stand up and when to sit down can be a bit unnerving the first time you come to a church service. The worship leaders will let you know when to stand up and when to sit down.
  • Will I need to bring a Bible? You can bring a Bible if you like, but you don't have to. Many of the Bible verses used by the pastor will be in the bulletin.

  • What kind of music can I expect? We have an organ with a choir. Our worship style would be classified as Traditional. We enjoy singing. You are welcome to join in the singing, or to just listen and read the words.

  • Will I be asked to wear a Visitor name tag or will I be singled out as a visitor? We won't put you on the spot. You'll be able to keep as low a profile as you like. Your comfort is important to us. After the worship service you are welcome to stay and mingle if you like.
