The Rev. Ron Schlak, Pastor

Our Mission is to live and share God's word in Jesus Christ

STAFF

Rev. Ron Schlak, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charleston, WVPastor Ron Schlak began his ministry here in November, 1994. Pastor Ron is a"people person".  He is outgoing, gregarious, enthusiastic, enjoys a certain amount of informality.  He is described as having a "collaborative style" which is why he has blended so well within the Charleston Community and among his fellow pastors as well as within the Synod leadership roles.

Always willing to help!  Our efficient church secretary, Billie Bennington, is the mortar between the bricks.  Always ready to greet everyone with a smile, we are so blessed to have her!

Karen L. Stouch is a retired Kanawha County secondary music teacher with 31 years of experience.  She has been directing the Trinity Bell Tones handbell choir for 30 years.  She is a member of American Guild of English Handbell Ringers and is also the youth chime choir director.
Dr. Barbara Wright, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charleston, WVLate in 2005, Dr. Barbara Wright came to join our music team.  Barbara is an Associate Professor of Music and Morris Harvey Division of Arts & Sciences Assistant Chair at the University of Charleston.  She is also an accomplished organist and has directed choir in several area churches.

Growing up in a small town in central North Carolina, Chuck Jones had never even seen a Lutheran church until a school trip at the age of 9. "Lutherans keep silence in church," Chuck's third-grade teacher told the students she was taking to an organ concert at a Lutheran church in another town. It was true, he observed, and the time the Lutherans dedicated to silence for intimate communication with the Holy Spirit made a deep and lasting impression. The experience must have been powerful because, when he was later in graduate school, Chuck visited a Lutheran church again and took the adult catechetics class, soon being confirmed.
